In the Big Data era, the information we collect in the justice sector is at an extra high risk of being misappropriated, misused or jeopardized. In this collaborative session with data enthusiasts, we empathized with affected actors on how we should protect our justice data. Throughout the discussions, participants shared personal experiences with data breeches, hacks and misrepresentations of data. Participants and panelists together identified the various actors who spy on justice data and where their interests may lie. Experts highlighted ways in which transparency and open source data are important efforts and also shared tools. Watch the recording above to learn more about the tangible outcomes that were presented by panelists and interesting insights that arose from the discussion that followed.

This session featured panelists Gole Andrew (Digital Security and ICT Consultant based in Uganda), Oluwatobiloba Adeleke (Project Manager on the Digital Human Rights Lab at Future Challenges, Berlin), Nathalie Dijkman (Co-Founder and CEO of SEMA) and Aidan Eyakuze (Executive Director of Twaweza East Africa).
