KPAC24 Thematic Session hosted by Conducive Space for Peace
November 20, 2024 | 10:30-12:00
Session Language: English (French translation TBD)
Session Description:
In a world of compounding conflicts, geopolitical tensions, rising inequality, a climate emergency, and deepening political polarisation, our current multilateral systems are struggling to address today’s most urgent challenges. The need for radical change and new imaginations of our common future is clear. Over the past two decades, we have witnessed historic levels of people mobilising in protest and organising in various forms and on multiple levels across the globe to build a future that is more equitable, sustainable, and life-affirming than our present.
This participatory workshop will engage participants in a futures thinking exercise. Using four distinct yet plausible future scenarios developed by a diverse team of 26 thought leaders as part of the RESPACE initiative, the workshop will challenge participants to reflect on what global collaboration for peace could look like over the next 11 years. Through this immersive exercise, participants will explore how their actions and decisions today can shape more favourable futures. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore collaborative strategies across various sectors that support sustainable peace – in the broadest sense – and empower local leadership in an increasingly complex global landscape.
